Big week for Florida basketball includes White House visit, recruit visit – Gainesville Sun
Florida basketball will travel to the White House on Wednesday to be honored for its national championship season.
Before that, though, a significant potential transfer will visit the Florida Gators.
Sources confirmed to the Sun that former Arkansas guard and five-star recruit Boogie Fland will visit UF’s campus on Monday and Tuesday.
The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Fland withdrew his name from the NBA Draft last week but remains in the transfer portal after averaging 13.5 points and 5.1 assists in his freshman season at Arkansas. He shot 37,9% from the field, 34% from 3-point range but missed significant time during the SEC schedule last season with a thumb injury.
Florida is seeking to replenish its backcourt after losing Walter Clayton Jr., Will Richard and Alijah Martin to eligibility last season and losing guard Denzel Aberdeen to the transfer portal (Kentucky).
To date, Florida has signed former Princeton guard Xavian Lee and former Ohio guard A.J. Brown for the 2025-26 season. Like Lee, Fland is a combo guard capable of playing on or off the ball. From Archbishop Stepanic High and the Bronx, N.Y., Fland was the 22nd rated overall player and third rated point guard in the Class of 2024.
